With my wife, "abyss" has come to mean the type of town that Boy's Abyss takes place in. My wife grew up in exactly the same type of town with a commute train line to the major city and its made me batshit trying to pick where to buy a house. I'd go stir crazy in the abyss, and it's absolutely crazy how hard is to escape.
I like how weirdly universal the general framework of Boy's Abyss is. Was saatified with the ending to an extent.
