This is actually a newfag problem. Once people got smartphones and normalfags infested the internet /a/ started to fill with people that don't belong here and who just read what's popular/big on some faggy online reader or social media, or what they've already seen as an anime. In my day people frowned on 'shounenshit' and you'd shit for posting One Piece on /a/; if a troll posted Naruto on the board it would be spammed or saged off if a mod didn't delete it after it was reported. That was good but we were needlessly elitist otherwise, although gatekeeping was always a good thing, and did look down on all Jump stuff to an extent.
