Yuuka/Maru actually have new and novel powers while Tsurugi is another katana wielding HR user. Narratively he's also only been built up as an obstacle for Yuuka to overcome instead of having his own goals. There was no "real" Sukuna.
What he said was always what he believed in and why he acted the way he did.
He may have once been doing this out of spite toward the world when he was just a little kid fighting to survive but after that it wasn't really it.
Like he said, he just sees people as consumables to pass time until he eventually dies of old age or gets killed, and anyone is welcome to challenge his way of seeing things.
Yuji changed him because he beat Sukuna (granted it was a 10 vs 1 but still). Like he said to Yoruzu, you beat me you get everything.

I find it funny how JJK fans tend to hype things the author clearly doesn't care about. And the characters are a prime example of this. The alien guy didn't do anything special in this first chapter, he (and the duo) are kind of bland so far >>282113910 Gege clearly used them more as plot devices.
