Has any anime made you cry /a/?
>be me
>watching Code Geass for the first time
>always though Euphy was annoying and SpinZaku was a fag
>gets to the episode where the special zone is being announced
>euphy gets GEASSED into killing nips
>then she gets shot by Lelouche
>SpinZaku is now crying watching his waifu die
It hit me harder than almost anything I’ve ever watched. I actually cried while watching it.

I thought it was sad when Rolo died. He was a real nigga, and he was forgotten about in R3...

Also, do you faggots just have no regard for spoilers anymore?
>inb4 19 year old series
Yes, but some (most) of our present userbase haven't watched Code Geass or other older anime.

If they haven't picked it up for 19 years, they most likely weren't going to start this very moment. Most people nowadays won't even touch a mecha anime that isn't Evangelion or the most recent Gundam at the time.

Some people just come onto some series much later than others. Best to give them the benefit of the doubt.

It's nice when there's a storytime for a series I didn't get to experience with anons as it was actively being published.

Then again, if you aren't familiar with a series, sometimes when you come across a spoiler in the catalogue, it doesn't register as such because you don't know what you're looking at.

I love CG, to me it’s the “perfect” anime.
>wacky comedy
>lots of action
>plot twist after plot twist
>sometimes nonsensical asspulls that somehow work for it
>fan service without being too lewd
>emotional gut punches
It kinda sucks, I’ll never watch CG for the first time ever again.

Many. CG had a few moments, I cried with Angel Beats, it was my first non Action anime. Cried like a baby with Clannad. Violet Evergarden is there, and so is Ousama Ranking. 3gatsu also had its moments. Cried hardest with One Piece ofc.

Otherwise moments when I cried in Geass
>Rollo death
>Shirley death
>Lelouch death
Not exactly sadness but the scene where Lelouch geasses god, especially when he made a passionate speech about why he's a siscon also teared me up but more like 'tears of happiness/awe/passion' I dunno rather than sadness.

Many have, but this scene in Dragon Quest: Dai no Daibouken holds a special place in my heart for many reasons.
SPOILERS AHEAD:
>grow up watching the original anime in the early 90's
>Avan's selfless sacrifice is one of the first of its kind that I witnessed, impacting me greatly
>still think of it from time to time as I grow up
>eventually find out there was a manga circa 2012, and read through it since the anime stopped less than halfway through the story
>get to the part where Hadlar, Avan's killer who is on the verge of death after an honorable battle with Dai, tries to save Popp, only for both of them to fall into a death trap
>Hadlar prays for a miracle to spare Popp
>they are rescued by none other than Avan, who it turns out didn't die
>Hadlar, using the last of his strength, fends off a sneak attack on Avan from one of the bad guys, then proceeds to evaporate in Avan's arms as he thanks the gods for letting him die in his former enemy's arms
>fast-forward to the new anime
>older brother also grew up with the original show, but he didn't read the manga
>we make it a point to watch every single episode together, even through video call so we can react to everything together
>we get to this scene
>he is in utter disbelief at first, then starts tearing up toward the end
>he asks if I knew, and I confirm
>sniffling, he thanks me for showing him this
I cannot rewatch this without tearing up myself now. Yes, there is a big asspull involved here, but I don't give a fuck. The payoff was masterful, and I struggle to think of a better way to send off a former villain.

Call me a fag, but the From Zero scene hurt big time. It's been years since any piece of media made me even come close to crying, and this brought me right to the edge. It's pure suicide bait. For a split second I understood why that little Russian kid killed himself when his favorite naruto character died.

She's too perfect and Subaru picked the wrong one.

One Piece, Brook's backstory. Specifically: the way he hallucinates that his crew is still alive before coming to his senses, then the scene when they all play the song one last time and fall over dead (especially the "...Solo" comment), and when he in the present breaks down crying and says he's once again actually honestly glad to be alive (probably because it reveals that he legitimately was DONE and broken despite the cheery attitude). I don't know, no matter how wacky and exaggerated it all looked, somehow it just hit me hard.
Trigun anime, Wolfswood's death. It's fucking heartbreaking because it sets up as somewhat classic sort of peaceful death with no regrets, only to immediately backstab you with much more raw, painful and unfortunately realistic "No, fuck you! I don't wanna die, I want to live, I want to be happy and see my friends and newfound family again!". Manga version is also a kick in the balls of the highest caliber, but for different reasons. Vash crying while eating donuts is also made me tear up a little.
GunxSword, Ray Lundgren's death. While he did go out after ruining the villain's plan, his demise just doesn't feel triumphant or satisfactory, it all just feels so fucking bad because at the end of the day he's just a guy whose life got ruined for no real reason. Even him dreaming of his dead wife only makes it worse, somehow.

Hanamonogatari, when Kanbaru is lying down in the back of Araragi's car and says: "Things just aren't going my way"
Something about the delivery in that specific context is so much more human than cartoons melodramatically bawling their eyes out
