I saw a theory recently that Silent Majority is either Pariston or one of his people, and that they exist in an undetected Nen space within or close to room 1014. Something like how since Morena and her people were able to set things up that there's a secret space between Tiers 2 and 3, Beyond could have set something similar up for Pariston and co. Which would better explain why all the nonloyal guards were killed, without it being either Oito or Woble.

Spoilers for They Were Eleven (it's only 4 kinda longish chapters, go ahead and read it): The 11th wasn't some evil mastermind, he was a test proctor. He was basically there to test the capability of the cadets, he didn't want any actual harm to come to them, though some people were hurt by accident. The video mentioned above proposes that Pariston or one of his group are stationed in a Nen Space in or near 1014, mentioned >>282157921 . He's observing Kurapika, while also being close by to protect Woble, who under this theory would be Beyond's kid. So one of them is controlling SM. This makes it so the killer isn't some complete random, but it also makes sense why they wouldn't harm Kurapika or any of the guards working for Beyond, besides just the fact they're Nen users.

Interestingly, you could compare the main character of TWE with Furykov, of all people. The former has intuition on part with ESP, just a bit below that, actually. And part of the plot is that his intuition is actively getting messed with. Which means what was mentioned in spoilers might not actually apply.

That’s because the Japanese manga industry is different from other comic industries. European comics have an even broader release schedule. American comics are mostly monthly and only like 26 pages per chapter, while majority of popular jap comics are weekly. The Koreans and Chinese have weekly comics but they’ve been raped and dominated by Webtoons which have a Lower story and art quality. This isn’t a Togashi exclusive thing though. Togashi just probably as the most popular hiatus fucked manga so he’s always made a meme but tons of artists suffer and won’t get a replacement . Just look at D Gray man or World Trigger release schedule.

IIRC, Togashi had almost 20 future chapters inked(410-426) or something , which is the majority of the work for a chapter.
He said before going on hiatus in December that he had to make sure everything was right for the next 50 chapters, which people assumed was either 410-460 or 430-480. And by making sure everting was right I assumed it was whatever outline, dialogue box, or sketches he had.

Togashi caused some confusion because he's been doing chapters in a weird order. In September of last year, the month before Chapter 401 was published, he said he finished inking up to 420 and hoped to do 10 more before the end of the year. He also said the background work was minimal and the chapters were all in various states of completion. In November, he said background specification was complete for 411 and 412, but then in December he announced he'd be taking a break to plan out the timeline and dialogue for the next 50 chapters (because this is an arc with lots of characters with varying beliefs and levels of information all moving around at once).

So 411-420 was inked last year before getting backgrounds and they're getting background work now. 421-430 is in various stages of completion. He said he'd ink them before the end of the year, but we have no idea how much background work was done on them - probably none, since he's still updating background specs in chapter order.

So 411-419 are inked and assistants are adding backgrounds, and going by recent updates he should xeet about 420 by Monday. Based on the previous batch's progress, 411 should be published by December 1st, but since he's doing stuff out of order it could honestly come out in a couple weeks, BUT since this is Togashi we're talking about it could also take 4 years.

421-430 were in a mixed state by the end of last year, with some chapters inked and some perhaps not touched at all. I've seen other fans say it's actually 421-440 that's in this state, but Togashi mentioned "20 unpublished chapters" before 401 was published, so my assumption was that he was including the last batch in the 20. But we can let people cope.

Could be, but I don't personally think it's that weird. Last year he finished background specs for 410 in July. He didn't mention the atypical order until September. For that reason, we don't know if 410 was inked before or after background specs. If, for that batch, he did things in normal order, then the reason he showed up later this time is because he didn't need to ink the chapters, while last time he still did so he needed to show up earlier. This is assuming he wants the chapters published at a specific time (Fall) he has to meet.

Yeah, I mean, to be fair he lets us know when background specification is finished for every single chapter it seems, but he doesn't for inking. He mentioned inking 405 in March last year, and I don't think he tweeted again until September when he told us he inked up to 420 and wanted to do 10 more before the year ended. I think the reason might be that background specification entails handle the chapter over to his assistants, so maybe as he's grabbing it to go hand it over to them he thinks, "Let me take a photo and tell everyone." Meanwhile, every other stage of development is just him working alone or talking to his editor. So it makes sense he'd be more sporadic on those updates. So the lack of an inking update doesn't mean he never got around to it. We have no idea how much he's done. I just think you have to temper expectations with Togashi.

It is interesting when you think about it, though. It seems he works on like 20 chapters at once, but he prefers staying on one process for as long as possible. So if he starts inking a chapter, he'll ink several; if he starts writing background specs, he'll write them for several; he took a break to work out the timeline for 50 chapters, which is abnormal in the manga world where everyone comes up with the story at most 4 chapters in advance. I think he just gets in certain moods, but it might also have something to do with how his assistants work. Maybe having his assistants work one day every 3d6 weeks wasn't going to work, so instead he calls them in once a year to do a whole batch at once, and then he can spend their off-time doing everything else.

No because he did the 411 and 412 background specifications last year and then disappeared for a month before saying he'd be doing the timeline instead. He can stop whenever and I think he probably feels some relief after finishing a batch that lowers his motivation to work. The last time he did more than one batch it was because he needed to finish the Chimera Ant and Election Arcs for the anime. But at this point, if he says a chapter's background specifications is complete, I have to imagine the chapter itself is less than 20 weeks from publication, barring some kind of dispute with editors (most likely over censorship), since that's how long it took last year and we don't know if he was doing his weird order yet or not - if he wasn't, then it should only take 11 weeks (since Shueisha isn't starting publication until they confirm all 10).

He had back surgery last year and he hasn't talked about it since. I'd like to believe his surgery worked well and he's spent this hiatus planning, writing and inking more than normal as a result. This hiatus is shaping up to be shorter than the last two, at least. If we allow that most of it wasn't due to health but was due to his perfectionism then maybe we'll go back to a batch every 30 weeks. I'd like to believe.

No. The manga is ongoing, but the author has been plagued with health issues, and new releases have been very sporadic.

The current arc involves an expedition to a lost continent, seemingly sealed off by a massive Nen (or maybe ultra advanced scifi) barrier. Several teams are en route, to explore and maybe score some mythical treasures:

1. The whole project was kickstarted by a man calling himself Beyond Netero, who claims to be the estranged son of Isaac Netero, former head of the Hunter Association. He's got the backing of a wealthy monarchy known as the Kakin Empire, but is currently the prisoner of the next faction.

2. The Hunter Association is sending a major force, lead by the Zodiacs (the inner circle of the organization). They've been hired by the V5 - the five wealthiest/most powerful countries in the world - to keep Beyond on a short leash. And to grab any legendary treasures they might happen to run across.

Leorio is a part of the Assoc. team.

3. A large number of civilians, who think they're going to colonize the "Dark Continent". In reality, the V5 and Kakin have agreed to actually dump them off at an island near the halfway point.

4. The Phantom Troupe, who is headed there . . .for some reason. Chrollo's given them some BS answer about stealing the Kakin Empire's royal treasures, but he seems to be holding back something big.

5. The entire royal family of the Kakin Empire, who are busy trying to assassinate each other for the right to inherit the throne. Kurapika is working as a bodyguard to an infant prince, while trying to steal back a bunch of Scarlet Eyes from one of the others.

6. Hisoka, who seems to be hiding out with either the civilians or the Kakin royals. No idea why he's there.

6. Beyond's team, currently led by Ging Freecs (Gon's father). They're a mix of mercenaries, scholars, and Pariston's Temp Hunters.

So . . .pretty much everyone - except the depowered Gon - is involved.
