I agree with this. I go through my art books regularly. If you really like the art you can razor blade the pages and frame them. I don't ever sell my collection. I just put them away and rotate them if needed. I would argue that a book sitting on a shelf you pull out regular holds more value than an acrylic plate though. Plastic gets more brittle as it ages but books can last for years in perfect condition.

It depends on you anon. I bought photo/art books I haven't looked at in years and do it for nostalgia. I have some I look at often to reference characters and artistic choices. Print can't be erased like the Internet/hdd failing.
Things like gundam origin setting books and zeta artbooks I look at often because I love the artists and the art themselves regardless of the series. My book from the 80s probably sees more use from me than it ever did before I bought it.

It's really why you're buying it in the first place. Do you just like the character or value the artistry or as something to learn from?

The UC materials are up on panda but that doesn't stop me from wanting a copy of the 400+ pg artbooks

but the "limited edition" aspect of the acrylic panel is very tempting too.

basically the acrylic panel is slightly expensive compared to the artbook, but i realized that it's basically a decoration once it arrives in my house
it'll be low maintenance compared to a book sure, but it's just a decoration

It really depends anon what is more valuable. I have long since ignore limited edition stuff because I know it I wait a few years it'll be so much cheaper and available. Some are more expensive but not too much compared to new. In the end. Blu-rays, artbooks etc all get cheaper with time on 2nd handsites. Some get more expensive. It all depends on what you want in the moment. Beyond the fucked shipping for the US, it was significantly cheaper for me to buy the limited edition original blu-rays. They popped up on manda for 20k for the whole set of 6(10k each 66k retail) never opened.

So especially with a culture like anime goods/Japan you're likely to see it in the future again
