This is the same complaint anyone who has never read a story about an MC with a slightly more mechanically complex ability has leveled against non-hard puncher MCs.
It does not always boil down to that. Take Jojo's Bizarre Adventure Diamond is Unbreakable. Josuke can punch hard with Crazy Diamond, but he also has the ability to "fix" things, which gets used very creatively throughout the story to enable his ability to punch hard. He runs up against similarly or more complex abilities and has to use his own creatively to win out over them.
Tactics still come into play in basically every single fight and few fights are just solved by Josuke being able to magic up a solution. Importantly, other characters still get to do plenty, so it's not like Josuke just does everything.
>if you've read a series where punch hard was boring, you would be just as bored with a more complex power
This is just a non-equivalence. A LAZY writer handling both kinds of stories would produce a boring result regardless of the the complexity of the MC's abilities, but a writer with actual skill and inspiration would be able to make a compelling fight with either. It's just that "punch harder" is overdone and I'd prefer to see an MC doing something more novel when there are already dozens of stories with MCs who can punch hard being forced to fight tactically. Let the MC have similar complexity to the other characters in the world instead of having the most basic of basic abilities.
