I guess not every pro does it, but you should crack each egg on a different bowl first to check if they're okay. If they are, pour them on the larger bowl.
This way you don't ruin the whole thing if one is bad, esp. with cake recipes that can sometimes use 12 or 16 eggs.
It also prevents tiny flecks of bird poo and egg shell to rain on top of the mixture, and it's easier to fish out a piece of egg shell if it didn't crack cleanly.
If you have a bakery, chances are higher to find a bad egg since you're using hundreds per day.
