because was a passion project with no hope of recovering money from it, that anime is one of a kind, Nie_A is ok but no at the lvl of Haibane.

You should watch this other cool anime called Serial Experiments Lain.
Late 90's and early 2000's animes had this satisfactory, interesting, sometimes melancolic aesthetic that nowadays anime can't recreate.
