Mishima. I’ve always enjoyed how sexual the experience of creating seemed to him. That energy is very visible in his books. His death was also borderline performance art. Lynch is great too.

the horror in these stories is... well, somewhat sexual (some more than others and not all, but a lot of THEM)
So I didn't imagine it? Does Junji Ito actually intentionally add erotic horror to his works? For example, pic related is definitely made to be erotic as well as horrifying. There are many more examples if we go to stories from the beginning of storytime. Another very obvious example is tomie

Tons of horror movies have sex scenes and B-movies are especially shameless when it comes to sexy ladies in danger or gratuitous nudity. Quite a lot of women are attracted to monsters or murderers in movies and there are lots of weirdos like us who want to fuck monsters like that bird thing. Maybe it's an instinct like, "I'm in danger. I need to pass on my genes quickly." Japanese comedy involves a lot of sex jokes too, so it's no surprise a comedy mangaka would include sexual undertones.

That's why in old movie posters and the like for horror or monsters, the victim is almost always a cute girl. There's a reason damsel in distress is so attention grabbing. There's something inherently erotic about a young maiden in peril.
