I know this isn't the first and last series to be this way, but I really can't understand how not a single person over like 15+ years this series existed managed to at least salvage something out of it and make an interesting story outside of the original inception.

Ishiba banned bikinis from anime. That's why. And it caused Kimipri to not have swimsuit episode which is tradition of precure which even dog had.
But will bikinis return to anime since Ishiba has resigned, due to Aso Taro being angry about him censoring anime which caused LDP to lose on vote 3 times a row? No anime was censored from source when Abe was PM. Hope New PM restored bikini to anime. Shinjiro or Kobayashi would be new PM to decensor anime.

Hope the candidate who Aso pushes becomes new PM. Since Aso is for freedom of expression unlike Kishida Fumiko who disguises to be "pro freedom of expression" but actually a feminist in disguise, and candidate they push would be feminist too.
