I'm happy about it. 3D has been replacing 2D animation in anime for a long time and ruining everything. If artists don't have the time or the talent to draw things like mechs and buildings and dance sequences, then let AI generate them in 2D.

Whenever people talk about AI in a visual medium, all they ever talk about is how it looks compared to 2-3 years ago. First off, who gives a shit? There are still errors and assuming that the progress of AI development moves at a steady rate is a fallacy. There are plenty of examples of technology who's development plateaued and then never got anywhere.

What AI does in a creative field is it removes creative decisions. Not all of them, but a large portion. Whenever people say something has "sovl" or whatever, that is something AI cannot do. The creative process that is gone through by artists involves hundreds, if not thousands of decisions that can be big or small, from what color clothes the characters should wear to how the story's narrative should progress at the halfway point.

An AI makes none of these choices. What it does is it takes your prompt or prompts, digs through its database of stolen art and idiotic fanfics, and then asks "statistically, what is it this person most likely wants, based on their prompt to me?" It makes no creative choices with specific intent. It uses statistics to generate an answer or outcome, it thinks you want.

Now this might actually be OK for people who are genuinely creative, but how many people do you know are actually creatively talented? Most people just think they are. Most people are going to see AI as an easy way to skip the work that gives something its "sovl" so they can get to the end result faster.

This thing is designed to be sold to dumbasses that went to business school and have no talent outside of firing people to cut corners.
