Don't be a coward. It's socially acceptable for 30+ year olds to like anime now. The more artsy stuff is even accepted among srsbsns cinephiles now. Multiple theaters in my city have been doing retrospectives on Ghibli, Satoshi Kon and older Manga Entertainment movies like GitS and Akira, and that's in a country that doesn't even have its own domestic anime distributors or air any anime on TV.
Even the more pandering stuff is becoming accepted among a growing inside crowd. Whenever there's a local con, I see zoomie cosplayers in public making casual conversation with random strangers much older than them about their favorite shows. (Sure, it's mostly shounenshit, but we all had to start somewhere.)

Maybe the kinoplex still does things the old-fashioned way, but my AMC now sells all its tickets exclusively online. When you buy one you get a QR code in your email that the receptionist in the lobby scans and directs you to your theater.

Weapons needed a lot more scenes with the kids other than the ending, felt a bit like false advertising.

What kids? All of them have been brainwashed aside the one that aided in the ritual. Maybe the aftermath at the end, but there really isn’t much room for more context from the kids aside being weapons (mind blown). The ending felt like its been resolved almost too good imo, like there should’ve been more, but I can’t put my finger on it

The trick is to buy popcorn for two, flash your two tickets and give Robert enough to ask a coworker to fill his shift.

When I go do something fun alone -- like seeing the cartoons from mars I watched as a teenager gone completely mainstream -- I tend to act like I'm "supposed" to be there, like the explanation for my being there is that I'm a reviewer for the Chicago Sun-Times or something
This makes me look like an insano

They didn't expect the 4D experience

PROTIP: You don't need to act like anything.
You buy the ticket, take your seat, watch the cartoon along with the other nerds, and exit when it's done. You had your fun. Fuck everyone else.
NEW GAME+: Once that becomes your new normal, you can show up early to have dinner (which many theaters offer), conspicuously put your ticket or flyer or other visual signifier of your cinematic preferences on the table, and strike up conversation with anyone who sits down within a 10 meter radius of your presence without an obvious date.
Many of those encounters will be awkward, and that's ok. You will never meet those losers again. You're learning and having fun in the process and you might even meet someone who shares your tastes eventually.
The worst case scenario is that you end up where you are now.
The more likely scenario is that you make friends eventually, which becomes more likely the longer you do this.
