Thank you David Production. A decent show, I'm kinda sad that it's gone, had a lot going for it. My least favourite part was probably the plot, the latter half is very messy with all the timeline stuff but the twists and turns were always fun at the very least. Good action and music, I'm a sucker for Asian folklore and history and a fan of mecha so a lot of this show was a treat.

The early 2020s was full of mixed-media projects (which almost all of them bombed), so expecting a game to come out of Ars no Kyoju seemed reasonable at the time.

Yeah, I'm trying to not think too hard about the plot because I'm fairly sure it makes absolutely zero sense. The whole point of the conflict was that the time bird was keeping everything on track, and the reason Heian Kyo had to be destroyed was that if it didn't, it wouldn't lead to the timeline where Tsukimiya lives.
You could argue that even though that EXACT timeline didn't happen, things still mostly play out the same and everyone lives on the moon regardless and Tsukimiya still gets born (although how can she be born if she was Takeru's ancestor and he never bred?? I have no idea) but then that kind of makes the whole conflict moot? idk maybe I'm just fundamentally misunderstanding the plot

This can be explained by Tsukimiya only really starting to act when Hareaki is getting close to solving the mystery. She had no reason to stop the World Whittle; it's only when Hareaki is starting to grasp the truth that she finally acted.

Birdie gave them powers, but they take form in different ways. Neither Tsukimiya nor Takeru has all of Birdie's powers, they just each have a part. It is just a machine in the end, and its only purpose is to make sure that the anchored future comes to pass.

In this anime, fiery genki boy thinks he saw some positive features on the Villain, and decides to save her after her myriad exposition talks. exposition that reveals she is a fucking psychopath and a narcissist that does things for her own amusement dont giving a fuck how many lives are ruined or ended as a result.
She was fed up with the state of affairs in her own timeline, became a past-a-boo, and decides she will have a taste of the past, whatever the cost, in this case the cost being the assassination of the whole moon population. that wasnt the outcome of a freak accident, it was all calculated, premeditated and coldly executed.
for what I remember, she didnt gave a fuck about them, she didnt feel remorse nor she feel any guilt, so a person like that is pure evil, is beyond salvation, but this anime treats her as a poor tortured soul that can be redeemed. So yeah, I think firmly that this level of red flag dismissal has to be the product of a woman mind.

It didn't. Only Takeru cried for her at the end; because in spite of everything she was still his first love. He wouldn't have seriously tried to kill her if he thought she was redeemable. Your complaint makes no sense; Tsukimiya faced death with disbelief, still thinking that it's all pointless and not really caring for anything beyond her own self even though Takeru tried to console her; in contrast Hareaki died fulfilled knowing that he's completed his duty, and glad that he no longer needs to make cruel choices for the sake of the greater good. It's pretty damn obvious which one is portrayed as a lost soul, and which one is portrayed as a villain even until the end.

Not in particular, for me it was interesting all the way. But the ending feels pretty rushed, even if it makes sense.
