I feel like Airi and Reirei's drama kind of worked -because- their hang-ups were things I've seen done before; person who doesn't want the world to change because now is the happiest they've ever been and know everyone is destined to go their separate ways, and person holding themselves back from their ambitions because following them would betray expectations of people they care about
I still think Reirei's side could have used a little more, she doesn't really seem too nervous about how Airi is going to take it, even if it's more her convincing itself everything is going to end up fine. Airi is still the most important person to her, but I guess you could say she was pretending not to care too much to "act mature" like Kuma said
Sort of related, creator answered in another marshmallow to someone asking about Airi's home life and why it was never shown, and he basically said he wants to write about it eventually, but it's something Airi absolutely does not want to bring up, so it probably won't be in anything soon. I think I like his approach of only writing what the characters want to share, no internal monologues or flashbacks or anything
