Why did speed racer get an english dub/US release back in the 1960s? most of the pretoonami animes were either 30 minute toy commercials or were limited release films

Titra Studios was the big name dubbing studio, bringing all sorts of shows into the American public view, including Astro Boy, Kimba, Gigantor, and Ultraman. Speed Racer was just another one of their projects.

What the fuck are you talking about? Plenty of anime aired or were available before Toonami turned the western anime community into pure cancer. The sci-fi channel in particular aired a lot of anime, and a lot of 80s anime (mostly super robot/sentai stuff and Macross) were also aired or otherwise available. Shit like DBZ and Sailor Moon also aired, though most anime fans shunned those back in the day, given that they were made for little kids.
