I expected her to join the main cast after Soul Society. And then she just faded into the background lol. Iirc there were plans to have her be a main character at some point, but Kubo didn't have the space for that because the Soul Reapers got so popular and readers wanted them to show up more.

I think it's a shame because after a certain point, Orihime's character really starts to revolve around Ichigo. Having Tatsuki be relevant could've done a lot for her character.

Laxus's dad in Fairy Tail. He had build up as a relative of two important characters, had personal animosity towards his family, independent from the Balam Aliance guilds, his goal was the same as the one from the main villain and he had a subplot going on with Gajeel as a double agent. I imagine Mashima got bored of him at one point cause he discarded his character in the tournament arc and was never seen again despite not being taken out for good.

The Go Rush counterparts got inverse treatment to their Sevens originals. Luke and Roa were the most favored in Sevens so The Luug and London get shafted the most in Go Rush. On the other hand, Manabu, Asaka and Zaion got miles better treatment compared to Gakuto, Asana, and Nail. Romin and Rovian are kind of in the middle since the former becomes mostly a curry joke with the second Season but the latter gets shafted pretty hard as well after her arc (which was already cut down because of Yudias' VA getting the coof) except for 1 episode.

Disagree with these takes, things were planned from start to finish and the author addressed most of that in the final arc (which didn't feel rushed, that's such a weird criticism). Tamaki is also a weird character to bring in this thread because she gets a lot of scenes in the show, sometimes even getting more than Iris that is the closest thing to a heroine in the show. That being said, if there's a character in Fire Force who 100% meets the criteria of this thread is no doubt Amaterasu, she feels like a complete waste given she appeared at the beginning of the second season in a way that would make you think she's gonna be an active antagonist, but despite that and the importance she has in the lore of the story, she doesn't appears in person again until the last arc, and she doesn't do much either before quietly dying free of her torment at the end.
