Finally caught up with the show. This wasn't in my initial watch list because literally nothing in the plot summary seemed interested to me, but I admit without any shame the thicc ladies made me want to watch it (the female Momotaro specifically). This feels like the lovechild between Blue Exorcist and Tokyo Ghoul (and in fact the whole Kyoto arc felt like a retelling of the Kureo Mado arc in Tokyo Ghoul) and not in a good way. Characters are meh, main character is just Rin from Blue Exorcist 2.0, the edgy rival is literally Denji, the angry delinquent is a more insufferable version of the main character, and the rest are pretty cliched and unmemorable. The only character I like is the glasses guy because he's funny at times and him being a mega coomer was unexpected. The CGI fights didn't help, and for a show about onis, I find the whole concept pretty wasted. Like, the onis don't really feel like onis, you could change them to be simply human with superpowers and not much would change, when the whole oni concept could lead to more interesting or creative approaches. The berserk form of the main character for example was cool, it was like a bloody Carnage, but they dropped that soon and replaced it with a blood gun, that while not bad it's not as badass.
Gonna admit tho, the curvy ladies are true eyecandy, even if they're not involved in ecchi situations they're still pure sex and the show is worth watching when they're onscreen. Really, never saw a shonen where all the girls looked so thick, even Fairy Tail doesn't go that far. It's telling even the pink haired girl who's supposed to be the shy, innocent heroine is built as sex incarnate, so in regards to coom material, I'm satisfied. Sadly now that Moomootaro girl is out of the story and all the bad guys of this new arc are male it seemed we're going full fujobait now, just hope is not too painful.
