How did it just CRUSH every other shounen, /a/?

Is it because every character has a personality? The unique power system? One clear vision? Are females just better at writing (stories for young boys)?

Power system is just Jojo part 1 and 2 but less fun. Animation, aesthetics and a generic but cool samurai vs demons theme is what made the anime popular but no one cared about the manga.

Movie ended up being an unprecedented global success for an anime, but for the next one, they’ll need to release something more optimized as a movie or they risk losing audience interest.
At the very least, the flashback scenes definitely could’ve been shorter.

I think Kimetsu is good but it's brought down by the amount of censorship it has. There's no reason why so many pantyshots should be censored to this degree. It's honestly one of the only things keeping this series from being a 10/10

Demon Slayer is the most unoriginal and clichéd shounen in recent times. Anything Demon Slayer did was done better by other shounen past and present and it was just another by the numbers battle shounen series. Which is why it left no impact and inspired nothing.

Can't wait to see ufotable animate this.

Ufotable’s contribution is huge, but honestly, I don’t think even they could make another Jump big name adaptation reach $600 million in revenue. At best, it would just be a solid success, nothing on the level of Demon Slayer.

What I fear most is that, after this mega-hit, Ufotable or Aniplex might get blinded by money and hesitate to wrap up the franchise, dragging it out unnecessarily.

Ufotable has been releasing new seasons every year, so they’re actually adapting the source material at an incredibly fast pace.
When the first episode of the anime aired, the manga chapters had already reached roughly the point covered by the current movie, meaning the story was already entering its final phase back then.

In the next movie, will the story actually go all the way to Kokushibo’s defeat?
If not, I honestly think there’s gonna be a riot in the theaters.

The power system and setting are hot garbage. But it has likable characters, flashy designs, and well-animated action sequences. Sometimes that's enough. Also it kinda became a trend with normalfags. It's not like it was THIS popular right off the bat. Normalfags started recommending it to each other and it kind of became an obligation for westerners to watch it simply because all their other friends were.

It's mind-blowing that for something that makes a lot of cash, it has absolutely no cultural footprint and KnY will hardly be the first option chosen for best of anything. If you ask a battle shounen fan:

JJK, Naruto and DB are the first that comes to mind. KnY fights are well animated, but they're not really good fights.

Luffy, Yusuke, Kenshin, Gon and Goku comes ro mind first. Tanjiro is too boring.
>Power system?
Nen, Chakra, Devil Fruit (fuck Haki), Cursed Energy and Stands comes to mind first. KnY's breathing system is just traced from Hamon which was just traced from Hokuto Shinken.
>Best teams?
Straw Hat Pirates felt like an ensemble of living, breathing characters pre-timeskip and it became the Luffy Show. KnY characters aren't really characters, they're just tools who orbits around the MC.
>Best villains?
Aizen, Makima, Madara, Meruem, Frieza, Shishio, Toguro. Demons are the highlight of KnY, but the demons just feels like a retread of character archetypes done before.
>Best arcs?
Shibuya, Chuunin Exams, Pain Invasion, Enies Lobby, Soul Society, Namek, Chimera Ant, Dark Tournament, Kyoto. Chances are the best story arcs of KnY doesn't cross the battle shounen fan's head.
>Best plot?
HxH, FMA and One Piece (pre-timeskip) comes to mind. A lot of KnY doesn't hold up under scrutiny and there are several plot elements that just haven't aged well. Can't say I blame the author because they were on a weekly schedule.
>Best girls/porn?
Bleach, My Hero Academia, One Piece and Naruto all beats it. KnY's artstyle is just too jarring to work for porn which is why it has zero good porn and the girls don't really have anything going to them. They're all bland and boring. It's very telling that CSM thrives in porn and not this franchise.

That $600 million is long gone and was lowered to mid $500 million. And anime has only gotten more popular over the years since the pandemic. Jump probably already has a list of slop deliverers ready to go that'd blow up. We'd get the next big thing soon enough.

no, the 3 movies are (probably) adapting 65 chapters of the manga which is about 30% of the entire length. They actually increased the pace of adaptation in terms of chapters per minute of animation after season 1 or 2 iirc.
