The Yamaha XT225, or known in some markets as the Yamaha Serow (from the Japanese serow), was a dual-sport motorcycle produced by Yamaha from 1986 to 2007. The XT225 was preceded and superseded by the XT250. Power is supplied by a 223cc single-cylinder, air-cooled four-stroke engine featuring a SOHC and 2 valves. The engine produces 15 kW of power and 19Nm of torque. The XT225 has a reputation for being a lightweight dual-purpose motorcycle which is suited to many applications.

I hope this manga gets an actual adaptation someday now that it has ended. It is such an underrated series, and I don't know why it didn't become more popular. It had an official English release, it is the canonical prequel to Ghost in the Shell (it was written and supervised by Shirow himself), and it is a pretty solid sci-fi story.

I love how much this show communicates information with barely any words, or by relying instead on its visuals. I also appreciate how much it implies about the former state of the world without relying on overly long exposition dumps. For example, you can already guess the guy worked in the navy before they reveal it, and the casual "Are you going back to work tomorrow?" tells you everything you need to know about how disposable human life was seen at the time. Even after receiving surgery needed for a patient who sustained severe physical damage, he was still dispatched not soon after. It's a shame he didn't join the cast, although the whole "life is a series of meetings and goodbyes" is basically a trademark for these types of shows, so it comes as no surprise. He had a pretty solid conclusion, too, so it's hard to complain too much about it.

Yeah, unfortunately the visuals of this show are bottom barrel. Uninspired character animation and art, the same over-compositing with bloom effects to cover up a lack of basic cinematography and art direction, etc. I can't help but compare it to Girls' Last Tour and Heavenly Delusion, two buddy post-apocalypse series with more unique art in both the manga and anime department and feel like the artstyle and overall execution of what are solid story beats are holding it back.

>Girls' Last Tour
GLT is like the complete opposite; its atmosphere was one of its strongest aspects. Despite being post-apocalyptic, the world felt alive and believable. I also like that the setting wasn't just Earth... but with overgrown plants and animals everywhere. Tsukumizu created a world that truly feels unique and has a personality of its own. Didn't watch second episode yet. First seemed like author decided to make a quick cash grab on cozy touring theme, and made it post-apocalyptic because that way there's nothing to compete with, and he forgot to make his homework on post-apocalyptic part. Mishandling of solar panels - you can damage them by weighting with rocks, and they will lose their productivity, because parts are covered from sun. EV bike conversion, that can be charged with tourist solar panel, in a couple of hours. Android that can fire a fucken railgun, but doesn't even require it's own solar panel to charge, if it's working on some kind of nuclear battery, then why is there ecothemes - biogasoline, EV vehicles, solar charging? Ruins and damaged cars everywhere, but without human remains, not to kill cozy vibes, only two skeletons are sitting in LMV, like they died quickly, because of poisonous gas or something like that. LMV itself is a plot mess, it's not damaged, it has gasoline engine, fuel tank not empty, no solar panels, but it's batteries still can power AI and camera that monitors surroundings.
This show is fine in it's guide part, but absolute shit in worldbuilding and camping part.

I just tried to read(mtl) a bit of the current raws
Oneechan travel happens in 2035, before the world went to shit
They meet one astronaut girl that is living alone in a base
Astronaut girl was training in a space station when a hueg never seen before solar flare happens, her space station and entire world went completely dark
At the time everything seemed to be very reliant on AI/eletronics including a nuclear base on the moon
Said base explodes right after the solar flare leaving a crack that can be seen from the earth
Astronauts have barely some hours of oxygen and without options they went into cold sleep
They wake up after unknown years and they also don't know what exacly happened, but one after the another starts dying because of some unknown disease and only the girl is left (she also seems to be infected)

Sounds like something new, at least. I read 6 volumes of the manga and was a little irritated by how much it spins its wheels.

After the strong start, most chapters are just relatively aimless tourism through Japan, and some could just as well take place unchanged in the modern day (I really hope, for the sake of the anime watchers, that they don't waste an episode educating the viewers on how to change the serow's front inner tube). Some of the volumes end in cliffhanger chapters leading into supposedly major events, which then ultimately resolve into zero progress story-wise in the next volume. The girls just go straight back to joyriding.

I know no more about the apocalypse and the ultimate fate of humanity than those who just watched ep2. Just some hints that neither Youko nor Airi are quite normal for who and what they're supposed to be. Also, fucking machine ghosts and ancient aliens? Come the fuck on.

While I do like this a lot for its characters, concept and art, it really is in no hurry to advance its story. The tourism fluff only entertains when not overshadowed by a premise as engaging as a mystery apocalypse and an apparently complete human extinction.

The one thing that still confuses me is the timeline of this. Judging by the landscapes and what the characters say when they talk about the old world it seems like the apocalypse happened many years ago, like at least 20 years ago. But Youko's sister was still very young when she traveled around and she is her sister, so there shouldn't be such a gap. Even if she was 10 years older and assuming that Youko met her during her lifetime and was old enough to talk to her the catastrophe shouldn't have happened more than maybe 6 years ago at best, assuming that the sister was 16+ when she traveled.

Yeah, there's some fuckery involved. I really hope it's not some sort of Shelter-type simulation or a goddamn dream, but if we take everything at face value, nothing makes sense.

I feel like the Touringram posts are the most stable foundation, so Chiko would travel around Japan and post about it, then ~20 years after the fall Yoko (probably born in the shelter) would find those posts and be inspired to travel herself.

But then Yoko seems to remeber actually being there, so either

What's interesting to me is how there have already been small differences to the overarching plot from the manga, along with the fact that we don't know what they have planned for the latter half that makes me think they might be cooking up an anime original ending.

I have zero proof for that, by the way, just a hunch.

That makes sense, but who's making the changes? Like, how does it work in anime production, do they let the author just call in and ask them to put a crater in mount Fuji or make the characters shout at the sea?

In Japan at least it's not that common, the big one is in Yokohama and there's some smaller blocks in Tokyo where there's lots of Chinese (Shin-Okubo isn't just Koreans these days). I think there's also a notable one in Osaka and of course in Sapporo. But other than that, I can't really recall any in Nagoya, Kyoto or Hiroshima.

Yeah I believe that Youko never actually met that sister. The video at the start of episode 2 feels like AI or prerecorded and even if it wasn't she is wearing what looks like the clothes of a doctor or scientist, so that woman is probably not even related to Youko.

That aside, when we see her in Youko's vision later (when she suggests to go to a Chinese restaurant) she is of the same age as in the video session at the start, even though that can definitely not be right since we have actually seen the real version at the beginning of episode 1 that confirms that she was way younger when she was traveling around. Around Youko's age actually. Chances are high that the woman from the video and Youko's visions isn't even the same person as the girl that traveled around with the bike and Youko just slaps the face of the first onto her imaginations of the latter because that woman is the only other human being she knows of and because she has never seen the actual face of the traveling girl.

Just finished watching the episode. The first part really felt like I was watching an ad (PLEASE come to Yokohama!), but the second part was amazing. It made me want to weep. The scene of Ichiro in the hospital reminded me of the body horror scene from Robocop
Ichiro is a real human being

Pretty sure some of the terrain we've seen looked like it had massive blast craters, clearly some sort of extremely powerful weapons were used against cities and such.

I tend to lose my immersion with series like this that have only women.
It's just not reasonable.
If I where anywhere in the general area I would've found and raped both of the girls and steal their bike. Because of strictly socioeconomic factors outside of my control, of course.

The show is too comfy. Would be cool if years later the bike breaks down and Yoko and Airi end up pushing a shopping cart through the wasteland while desperately searching for food. Gotta have that adversity to overcome for character development.
