Even something like the scene of him talking to her and not letting us hear/read the words and then keeping their conversation secret until the very last chapters could’ve worked if preserving the intrigue is what Kishi was after. Idk maybe he is just shy like that and didn’t think he could write romance convincingly.

That movie genuinely feels like an elaborate high-budget shitpost from people who hate NaruHina, hate Hinata and want to ridicule you and punish you for ever liking/caring about her. Like, it feels like it caters specifically to her haters the way it confirms every negative preconception fandom has about her. Oh, you think she doesn’t care about anything except Naruto? Well here’s the scene where she wonders if she’s a bad sister for thinking about romantic stuff while Hanabi is in danger and then drops that introspection immediately after hearing Naruto confess his love. Here’s another where her mind is revealed and her head is literally filled with nothing but thoughts about Naruto’s stupid face. You think she’s weak and unfit to be shinobi, here’s a scene of her hanging by the scarf and not even attempting to use chakra. Here’s her failing to make a jump across the buildings despite jumping many times that distance in the manga. You think Sakura is so much better and more badass, here’s the scene of her smashing through multiple puppets with ease while Hinata struggles to put down a couple of them in another scene (although that one is more understandable from power levels perspective but still, why doesn’t she use lion fists?)

2/2 You feel like she didn’t care about Neji’s death in the manga? She doesn’t think about him even once in the entire movie. Naruto ending up with her is forced and contrived you say? He literally only starts seeing her in a romantic light after getting hit with magic spooky genjutsu and behaves entirely out of character for the remainder of the story. And the most offensive of all, her not laying even a finger on Toneri for whole entire final battle. At one moment, he grabs her with telekinesis and instead of her doing something to free herself he gets random coof and releases her. She gets literally thrown into the cage by the hair. That was the most inconsequential nothing antagonist and they don’t even let her look good fighting him or even land a single punch. Naruto defeats Toneri with ONE PUNCH and all she gets to do is loot some eyes from the defeated helpless man. And then she is not even strong enough to break Tenseigan by herself. What the fuck was that whole build-up with Hamura’s chakra and Princess of Byakugan bullshit even for?
