I think its less "destabilize the natural state of the world" and more "cause natural phenomena". Everything that happens is something that would be possible under the right natural conditions.
Its not like Malu turned water into Pepsi or caused the balls to explode into flower petals.
I think its more like his CT provides the energy for phenomena to happen that is naturally possible to the targets. Thus, the raw description of "agitation/stirring of the principles of reality". Since, Sukuna lost Maho he had no access to 10 Shadows anymore. BUT Megumi is able to use his dog after that which definitively shows that Megumi's 10 Shadows is different from Sukuna's.
However, the two techniques were certainly connected at some point since Sukuna used Nue right away without needing to tame it. So, Megumi may have lost the shared shikigami meaning the Owl and the elephant. Maybe.
