The catch is that there were a lot - and i mean westoids - who started watching it as a meme then took it as some sort of deconstruction of the superhero genre by the end. The committee wanted to capitalize on them but missed the animation was the actual selling point of it.
Season 2 showed OPM without the animation of Season 1 is boring because the story is boring. But there were still some westoids clinging on the deconstruction angle by the end of season 2.

Acknowledging that it's a pipe dream to expect S1 animation, I'd say the worst part of the adaptation is the time and transitions. Barely any setup for scenes, and no moment really lingers, it's just sudden cuts from people talking to each other before cutting to other people talking to each other. It really gives the impression that the people making it are just pushing through as many scenes as possible and trying to get things over with.

It's pretty incredible when you compare the openings for S2 and S3 to the first one. The former two just keep shoving random characters doing whatever one after another, trying to grab your attention, and it all looks awful and disjointed. Meanwhile the original is, no joke, 90% just random cuts of cool looking backgrounds, Saitama smacking some monkeys, punching a couple of mascots, and like 5 seconds of the rest of the cast, yet it all flows seamlessly.

In the OG Baki anime the director had some sense to use artistic liberty to improve upon a scene in order to create some atmosphere or convey the story much more seriously than in the manga. Now in the Netflix version, the director just copy paste whatever is on the panel. I believe the OG anime has smaller budget than the Netflix version so what's the difference here? I truly believe there is a decline in creativity and artistic skill in Japan's anime industry.

I read the Manga recently, and I’ve gotta say, the anime VAs kinda fucking suck. Barely any character matches, only the real main characters like Saitama, Bang, and King are fine. But you got characters like Atomic Samurai, Garou, who are just completely off. I remember the sound design was horrible in season 2 but there’s barely anything going on season 3 so far so I can just say that the pacing is atrocious as well, Gyoro Gyoro asks G5 about the association and the silence is so brief, it’s not even like the Gyoro gave G5 a chance to speak. It’s pretty sad, the manga has both great choreography and great panels and Season 1 did it justice, and 2 was very middling. But I don’t know, I gotta wait for the first actual fight (Garou vs. Ant King and Royal Ripper) to judge that. The amount of flat backgrounds and gradient shots don’t help either.

I’m a fake OPM fan who’s only watched S1-2 and read all of Murata’s chapters, but I feel like the series kinda just exists for the sake of existing post-boros and Saitama is barely the main character of his own series anymore, that little blurb at the start of the volume talking about “my name is saitama I got too strong and can beat anything with one punch now I have an existential crisis and all I want is to find a strong opponent to beat them up with one punch” has kinda just become irrelevant. Is the webcomic better about this? I like the side characters, don’t get me wrong, but the final Saitama vs. Garou fight felt like it was building up to that blurb the entire time (except for the one punch part at the end) and it just didn’t. I know Saitama is a gag character and he’ll likely always struggle with this but I seriously feel like this series could’ve ended at the MA if it was done right but it just didn’t and now we’re fucking around with a new hero association, stuff about the ninja village, we’ll probably learn more about the organization eventually. In the premise alone, the post flounders; OPM never turned to shit. Only its adaptations have done that. The webcomic itself is as solid as ever, its plot steady: even with how many lines and characters it's juggling at once; even with its erratic schedule; even with its author's busyness with non-hobby projects; and even with the casualness of ONE's performance that, on some level, instills in me a paranoia that he might lose track of what he's doing and tumble with his house. My fears were unfounded every time.
What the post does is the equivalent of blaming the writer for the failure of a movie adaptation instead of the director, simply because the writer was brought on to supervise, which he doesn't do regularly because he has other work. The blame continues, even after the writer releases several more books which are as good as the rest of his pieces.
Why would ONE insist on rewriting the story in a way that contradicts his style and is out-of-sync with the webcomic's events? Why would ONE suddenly exhibit this much "care" in OPM when it has never been his main priority, which is obvious looking at the webcomic's schedule? There is no coherent reason. There is no coherent reason why McCoy is just an opportunistic sleaze who ultimately has the courage to do the right thing in the webcomic, while he runs a monster trafficking ring and gladiator gambling operation in the manga. There is no coherent reason why Ryumon is a true hero who admires Metal Bat in the webcomic, while he mocks and opposes Metal Bat and howls ecstatically at the idea of profiting off of murdered heroes. There were several months and several redraws to completely fix this; they were never fixed.
Look past the book cover and just read its contents.

I think no one in Japan actually wants to adapt a manga that has too-good-art, because your anime art will never be better than the manga.

Meanwhile if you make an isekai anime based on a novel, that means your art will be "top tier" (even if it's only mediocre). You won't have that point of comparison looming over you.

Anime is made for people who don't read, they'd never know there was a downgrade. Besides, anime should do what it's good at which is animation, not stills. A studio is shooting itself in the foot adapting panels into shots 1:1 instead of changing things around in a way that emphasizes the animation and directing and avoids direct comparisons.

He was probably busy again, also, it's not enough that Shingo Natsume comes back, he has to bring all the animators who worked on S1, who are also very busy nowadays whereas in the past it was easier to bring all these all-star talents onboard OPM because sakuga shows were rarer back then.
Now all production commitees want sakuga in their shows, which means talent is spread thin.
