It's great. Nice backgrounds, good music, the reaction shots are fantastic, fun enemy designs. The later seasons have some really nice animation here and there too. Super comfy monster of the week viewing. I'd rather rewatch a random episode of S3 than any current seasonal isekai/otome/fucked in the butt by my own party anime.

Season 1 was good. Everything was really delayed. I mean they went 10 episodes in before the main trio was done, then almost 30 episodes when the full crew was together. Season 2 (R) feels a little cheaper. The alien siblings seem like filler. 2nd half of R is going to get back on track again. Kind of weird how the other senshi can't keep up with Usagi's new power up.

A lot of people had powers, non-senshi people. I think it is an interesting world in which they live in. Normal people could have abilities and you wouldn't know it until they demonstrated it. I think they should have done more with the people and their powers like making them part of the Moon or making them all show up to help the girls when they need more power. Because it’s not meant to be, the Sailor Moon manga was the proto-Madoka and meant to serve as a deconstruction of the genre. Usagi and Mamoru’s lives being entirely ruled by destiny isn’t supposed to be seen as a good thing, but rather the manga treats it as a tragedy. For example they’re only attracted to each other because their Sailor Crystals resonate with each other and are drawn together, it’s not organic or natural at all.

No Senshi has entirely free will because they’re determined by their own Sailor Crystals and Star Seeds and are merely following the cycle set out by their origin the Galaxy Cauldron to sustain the universe. Only way out is to destroy the Cauldron itself but that would mean the destruction of the very source of life and all life in general.

Eventually Usagi will absorb all her Senshi’s + Mamoru’s Sailor Crystals to become the very Cosmos itself in the ultimate apocalyptic bad end timeline where she’s stuck fighting Chaos (who itself is nothing but a failed star, aka proto-Entropy) for all of eternity.

Both.
The live action is more of a Toku, and has a lot of differences from both the anime and manga that makes it worth watching. For instance, Serenity being almost a split personality from Usagi, and an absolute terror.
And the musicals have been running for almost the entire existence of the franchise, even while there was nothing else going on.
Most of them are retreadings of the basic plot, but some veer off into wild territory, like one of the older ones where they have to fight Dracula and find out he's Cain from the Bible, real World of Darkness shit.
There's one going on right now even, and a few of them are subbed.

The ingredients are all there already. I feel the only thing their arc needed was for the show to introduce the reveal about their true nature (pic related) a little earlier and explore the same doubts, jealousy, and anger they feel about their condition throughout the different episodes. Beryl isn't a hugely more interesting character personality wise in the manga compared to the anime like how many anime characters are compared to the manga, but the role she plays is very much more interesting and you do get a sense that there's a lot more going on with her and why everything is happening. Like, it's established why the conflict between the Earth and Moon started and why Beryl genuinely thought things would work out better for everyone with her marrying Endymion, how Serenity/Usagi responds to everything and ends up killing herself, how Beryl planned to ultimately betray Metallia and how Venus fucks this up and caused events to repeat. I can't deny the way the manga uses her as a villain is far superior to what the anime does, even if the shitenou are shit characters in it. She just has a lot more motivation/agency and is less cliche. Like, in the image, her desire to take Endymion for herself is something she doesn't even pretend isn't completely one sided, while in the manga she clearly believes that they would have had a great relationship if he'd given her a chance and acts out of a conviction that she'd know better than everyone else what's ultimately for the best.
