Aori Nishimura is a top tier qt and skateboard pro and definitely quite famous in Japan. Female skateboard pros in general seem to be most active between ages 12 to 24, so it's strange the scene doesn't have more traction among animufags, given the plethora of potential young waifus. Then again, they are 3D...

On topic, Japan is always represented at big skating events and the olympics, far more than most other nations. The big three representants usually appear to be USA, Brasil and Japan. The level for female skaters nowadays isnt terrible either, so with all that considered it does seem weird that there's no skating manga. I have no idea what the skating culture is like in Japan though, maybe it's hard for manga artists to probe the scene? I know as an earlier skateboarder from yurop that the culture here attracts a lot of delinquents who were more interested in defacing public property with grafitti or comitting general vandalism, which gives the scene a bad rep for people like myself who were just geeks who liked flipping a board.

I think you're on to something here. Skating scene is still fresh in Japan having recognized as a sport in the last Olympics. I've seen a number of skating rinks in Tokyo so give it maybe 5 years and we'll start seeing stuff getting written as their demographic gets older

Skateboarding is 100% corporate. A skateboarding anime would essentially be a giant billboard for the industry.
Getting permission from these big name brands to use their likeness would bankrupt whatever studio would be making it.

Skateboarding is also not conducive to good story telling.
I have watched dozens of skateboarding movies, whether it was directed by a Jewish bigwig or amateur film director who skates, and they all suck.
I still skate to this day, but I don't want to watch someone battle a trick or spot.
