Naruto’s worldbuilding is trash, with the focus almost entirely on characters while the world itself (villages, politics, and economy) feels shallow and underdeveloped. Early arcs like the Zabuza arc barely explore the country, sidelining broader conflicts for character backstories, a trend that continues throughout the series. Most villages are reduced to a handful of characters who serve as symbols rather than fully realized cultures, and missions rarely expand on their political or social systems. The role of the Feudal Lords is minimal, and the ninja economy is poorly explained, relying mostly on morally ambiguous missions as if that sustains entire nations. Even major developments, like the War Arc or the supposed “era of peace,” don’t meaningfully change the world.
