I also think that, Death's plan to stop the prophecy that said that "Mars would reign" was to make "Mars" more amicable. Asa's influence did change Yoru, she refused to turn Denji into a weapon. You can argue she wasn't able to do it, but I feel like she didnt do it because of her own feelings for Denji, and Asa. Is she irredeemable trash? Hard to say. Because Asa didn't judge her own mother for killing the dad, she probably has mixed feelings for Yoru as well. Can't end well for Asa.

I think she's just portrayed as a bit emotionally stunted, even autistic. Yoru gave up on weaponizing Denji because she loves him, she'll change her mind due to feeling cheated on, she's already extremely possessive even with random women being close to Denji so it would be perfectly in-character.
