As an expert on the topic, it usually goes one of two ways.
The strong, confident man who can overpower her physically and refuses to be emasculated by her attitude.
Or, the intelligent nerd type who accepts her as being his physical superior and is willing to be controlled by her.
It depends on the woman. Some tomboys are tomboys because they're in desperate need for control in their lives, and want nothing more than for a man to swoop in and take care of her, proper loving care of her, so she doesn't have to only rely on herself anymore. Others have the "alpha" mentality by birth and absolutely refuse to be controlled by any man, they value their independence and strength more than anything else and would rather be alone than be subservient in a relationship. They both end up fairly similar in outward personality - the first type generally softens when you get to know her and ends up being more vulnerable and shy on the inside. The second is extremely extroverted and has that "type A" personality that doesn't let them slow down until they're dead. Many women fall more in the middle, and want a man who is a mixture of both - strong, confident, and able to control, but who is also able to swallow his pride and allow her to take control OR to support and love her depending on what she needs at the moment.
What all tomboys want regardless of their type, however, is a guy with enough self-confidence to not be embarassed by her. A guy who knows himself and doesn't care a lot about what other people think, who's happy to let her be strong and controlling at times without feeling the need to show off how "macho" he really is in front of people. In short, don't have little man syndrome where you feel emasculated and get defensive whenever she takes charge of something, you'll only butt heads and piss her off.
