Yugioh has some of the most obnoxious anime-onlies. They hate the card game because of how complicated it is, they don't even know the manga exists outside of 0, and they can't even remember boss monsters that aren't the main aces. People genuinely didn't understand why Crimson Blader got an assault mode, because they probably never even watched the ending of 5d's.

That's a real shame the manga is way better than the censored anime, maybe it's because most people see anime screenshots from it and not bother reading it at all.

Even years after reading the manga and the manga renditions of GX and 5Ds, the actual card game seems too convoluted to me. I may be a shitter but all I've ever heard for a very long time is about how cancerous the metagame is and it doesn't even seem like enthusiasts enjoy it all that much.

The metagame is dogshit and a lot of guys you'll run into at the main tables of these events are burnt out from years of abuse. But the game has developed in such a way that allows for combo variance and skill-testing decision making. The problem is Konami refuses to delete floodgates and autowin match-up cards that lock the other guy in a chastity cage while your deck completely ignores the penalty.
