I find it interesting how different mangakas handle getting axed. Using recent examples, PPP set up a plan b to get to an ending that will (presumably) wrap up the main plot in a mostly complete manner. Star of Beethoven and Embers both ended clearly well before the main events of their narratives were able to take place, and weren't really able to pivot towards fuller endings in time, but still had thematically complete endings that just left certain plot points open-ended. Then there's Kaedegami, which is ending completely in the middle of a random arc with just about nothing resolved. Is it just a case of some authors becoming demoralized and giving up when they get the axe? I don't really blame them, but it's a shame to see, because I think examples like the former will be remembered more fondly in the long run.

With the renaissance of WT, the success of JJK, Naruto ending, DB Super and HxH coming out of hiatus after the Chimera arc, I thought more shounens would have methodical fights or at least some semblance of it. But all we got in the last 10 years was KGB and SD, maybe Centuria too. Everything else is just sentaiish. I understand sentai being big in Japan, but can't the authors and EiC see other styles ressonates better in the manga medium nowadays? Nobody is into SS and FotNS anymore. FMA had zero powerups and was a success, Frieren is on the other end of the spectrum with every character being autistic and was a success.
Maybe thats why they are trying to revive Psyren? Seems to appeal to the Naruto/JJK/KGB demographic more than other ongoing works.
