Freeza really did mess up power levels, I mean look at this

I think a simple number system from 1-10 would suffice, likewise A-J would be good too. I woud even accept 1-100. The scaling got way out of control and sidelined the other characters as well.

Power levels were never a serious thing in the first place, only the fans take them at face value. Toriyama made them up during Raditz to show off how Goku, Piccolo and Gohan could lower or raise their ki, which is why Bejita stopped using scouters when he learned how to do it and sense ki without needing them.
