I'd say it feels a bit slower paced than the anime does, but everything still comes crashing down near the end. I like both because they portray the characters a bit differently. The anime's a little more sympathetic to the humans while the manga feels a bit more sympathetic towards the shikis. I need to read the novels some time too.

The anime's soundtrack is phenomenal. If I'm rereading it instead of watching it, I've got one of those compilation vids playing nonstop for the atmosphere.

The novels flesh everything out more and benefit a lot from having Muroi as the protagonist, but the translations stopped about 2/3 the way through which basically leave you completely blue-balled despite the amazing set up. Might just read the manga this week for some actual catharsis.

Recently was in the mood to watch something Halloween-y so I finally got around to watching Cossette no Shouzou. Wouldn't call it a favorite but it was good, made more fun by being able to spot lots of little proto SHAFTisms that show up in later series.
