I'm starting to think Saito's approach is to serialize one or two series with the intent of keeping them around for longer no matter what, then running a bunch of filler/jobber series alongside them, which only survive if they get massively lucky and become a big hit before their first volume even releases. Harukaze was clearly set up to be the favorite of its batch despite not actually being more popular than its batchmates, going by preorder numbers and how much people talked about it. It was given TWO color pages while the others didn't get any. There's also Otr, which under any other circumstances would've been axed with its low TOC and terrible volume 1 sales, but has mysteriously been allowed to stick around. And now we have Someone Hertz, which I don't mean to say is in the same exact situation, but the fact it's getting a color page this early as well as being mentioned in Roboco (it would've only been on chapter 2 or 3 when this chapter was produced) is very suspicious to me.

As someone who is following both, no. Kaedegami had problems with pacing and action, but Jun always knew what kind of story she wanted to tell, and you could tell she loved his characters. Otr, on the other hand, still feels like Kawaguchi is being forced to follow shonen tropes that he doesn't really understand or care about in order to tell a story that's totally different from what he originally wanted to do, which makes the manga feel hollow. Otr looks good, but it doesn't have the same “love” for the story and its characters that Red Hood had at the time and that Kaedegami had until its sudden axe.
