The problem with Asa dying, regardless of how one may feel about her character, is that it's completely pointless/repetitive.
If Asa dies and Yoru dies, the plot just ends abruptly.
If Asa dies and Yoru somehow remains alive, nothing changes virtually.
Denji doesn't have such a strong bond to Asa to really feel for her death, not more than what he felt for Aki, Power and Nayuta. Countless people have died in Denji's life, it would just further send him into apathy and put him in Pochita mode forever.
Her death would only really possibly matter to the audience.

On the other hand, Denji dying, especially at Asa's hand would serve as a payoff to the countless warnings that he received over Asa by several people across Part 2, including from Asa herself.
It would push the plot forward since it would likely be or result in Pochita's weaponization.
And it would completely anihilate Asa mentally, especially with this chapter reveal since it would put in the exact same position of her mother in the most traumatizing moment in her life.
Denji's death would matter on al levels, to the characters, to the plot, to the audience.

Yes, but frankly this just feels like Fujimoto rushing things, this is why I said that it felt dispassionate. It feels as if the story is trying to reach an end - Denji and Asa find common ground in their traumatic past, without dealing with the consequences of it: Asa being mentally disrepaired by remembering something so painful that her mind blocked off.

It just feels like general lazyness, which seem to be permeating the entire narrative for a long while now.

Everything we've seen of Asa's mom prior to this last chapter portrayed her as very positive: a nurturing, positively nagging and loving mother, she even sacrificed her own life to protect her own daughter, which is the most selfless unambiguously good thing a parent can do.
And yet, why Asa has doubts? why this situation makes Asa question her mother's morality when she did nothing but give Asa support and love?

Asa is such a fun character to analyze. Feels like Fujimoto really went above and beyond with the details in this character. There's just so many that you never know if it's just seeing things in clouds given that it's Fujimoto -- renowed author of "Just listen to the song".

All these scenes where someone dear to Asa is in danger there is a close frame in the right side of Asa's face, particularly the eye.
The right side of the brain is associated with emotion, imagination and feelings, this is the way of the story to communicate that her actions in these moments are guided by emotion rather than logic, that would be the function of the LEFT side of the brain.

Such a waste to have this character wasting in the sidelines of the story.
