That was bad! The whole "Uta is a mess around Kaito and the others are cheering her on" thing really doesn't work. I cba to check how many episodes there were between Kaito first complimented Uta's singing, him first making Uta blush, and when she recently remembered she's supposed to have feelings for him- but I don't have to. I know the events are far apart, there's no indication that Uta considers Kaito to be special compared to anyone else. Everyone has always praised her singing. She has close friends who have been there for her more and yet Kaito gets credit for cheering her up. He gives her strength? No he doesn't???? He's supposed to be special to her but there's *nothing* that supports that.

Kaito and Kazuma's bond really doesn't work. Kaito has been absent for most of the show and when he's on screen, zero indication that he's sad about an old friend. 14 episodes ago he said "Someone told me they liked my singing". Then 2 episodes ago was the first mention of how Kaito would like to make his old friend smile.

It was bad enough that they remembered that Uta is supposed to have a crush on Kaito. Now they've invented an old friend who was the reason Kaito became an idol and who is now the villain.

Hey remember when Uta got sad about Purirun losing her memory, so much that she became inconsolable? Remember the episode about her grandma? And we're supposed to believe her feelings for Kaito have such a depth to them that they've become part of what defines her passion? Yeah right.

This really isn't what the show should be focusing on during its last cour. It came out of nowhere and has very little to do with everything else that has happened. There's still time for them to tone it down and refocus but this put a big bright spotlight on KimiPuri's many problems and while I probably won't think the show is a massive disappointment not worth watching, the excitement I had about the potential of an idol themed Precure show is all but gone.

Hime thought that she was in love with Seiji because of a dramatic moment, but late on, she realized her feelings were more platonic than anything (much to my chagrin). It's possible that the other Cures are mistaking Uta's celebrity admiration for Kaito as romantic feelings (with Uta herself being unsure). It's like back with the love letter episode where the guy thought he was in love with Uta when he realized the next day that he was just a fan of Cure Idol.

The animation director redraws cuts they select so that they stay consistent and on model. That's what Ueno did (just on his model). The chief animation director is a tier above them, their drawings are going to be more final. In picrel you can see the remnants of Ueno's face shape, but Sugimoto clearly redrew the eyes and possibly more.

Music is an important factor to me in any form of media - this season nails that in all angles: OP, EDs, OST, and the finishers. Uta is a lovable main and I especially like the fairy duo. On that note I think Uta's whacky character is underappreciated. During the "important" episodes in which the plot progresses, I thought those were well done such as when Uta ponders about Zukyoon, Kokoro's inner struggle before becoming a Cure, Uta searching for meaning on what her dream is, and the whole arc of the fairies locking their hearts away. I have high hopes of this new arc with Kaito and Jogi
