The problem with this anime, its discussion, and really how it reflects societal standards is how often people are wrong when trying to get the point.
In a workaholic echo chamber, you're left isolated to yourself and to your work. There's very few opportunities available to put yourself out there as a person in Japanese society. Nail that sticks out gets hammered down.
Secondly, Gotou is being coy in an immaculate sense to lead Yoshida on and acts on the defensive by inquisitive in order to get the answers she wants out of people to confirm her bias about their intentions.
Yoshida, while well-intentioned, probably thought that this would just be another round with a cougar like he had with Kanda before. It had been known that he prefers older women above anything else, so to him, he figured that by being direct with his sexual instincts that he'd happen to score or catch lightning twice. Gotou rebuked this, however, because he knew he was answering the wrong questions at the wrong time. Nothing was lining up in his favor the way he had wanted it so she had to let him down gently knowing that she'll be the one to propose to him again in the future in the hopes of setting up a relationship.
In summation, people are more than the sum of their parts. When we get older, our minds change to better fit our surroundings. Gotou, being 2 years his senior, is reaching close to her 30s which are going to be about her career and/or her family. It's a rather ornate and mixed gesture of shit-testing and lining Yoshida up to be her future husband as his compunction to overwork himself led her with a good impression in her eyes.
