The old = good, new = bad applies much more to movies, series, videogames, and other topics. Look at any 90's video, everyone looked happier, less stressed and more easy-going. I'm doing my best to stick with Bleach but this last arc sucks so much that I have zero passion to continue. I can rewatch old Bleach and the movies but it's a struggle to continue with the new show. The only good moment is when Ichigo's eyes soften when Orihime said she was concerned about him post-Byakuya. Doesn't erase all of their other shitty chemistry. Even in the end, during the Yhwach fight Ichigo is more concerned about her shield not working when she's shown face down in the dirt and she doesn't try to cheer him up at all, even feeds into his despair by saying he can't fight anymore without his Bankai. There's another case with more weight IMO, in which they changed Sora's line when he confronted Orihime and reveals why he wanted to kill Tatsuki and Ichigo.
In the manga, Sora mentioned that Orihime stopped praying for him after Orihime entered high school, because she met Ichigo. She even started talking about Ichigo in front of Sora's altar.
This bit is completely removed in the anime, and they only kept the similar previous scene that pertains Tatsuki.

Check episode 3, at around 09:35 mark. And check manga chapter 5.

I know this feel, and sometimes an older series can give good feelings during hard times of extended physical illness. I did this with Ranma ½. Bleach is a very fun watch from start to finish. I do enjoy a lot of the filler, but understand people skipping for wanting to stick to the story.

Early Bleach was really too short if you want my opinion. After the save of Rukia it felt a different thing. And even before that arc started.

With the squad zero training what he considers himself really doesn't matter because his inner Yhwach still kills the soul king while hollow Ichigo still refuses to come out willingly. The issue is that madoka is principly about the opposite of power of friendship. In fact madoka only becomes a goddess because she rejects something rather than upholds a status quo. And more importantly, every character who falls in madoka falls for very specific reasons: denial: mami, anger, sayaka, bargaining, kyouko, despair, homura, and acceptance, madoka. But each character must actually reject their key emotion to get what she wants. Madoka rejects acceptance of fate and becomes a Buddhist figure of change rather than utilitarian escape from samsara. Homura rejects considering her sadness and pain to be a source of despair and cherishes those memories of pain making them into love. Etc. the situation with the adoptive family and homuras home life doesn't really address this critically. Further a lot of the narrative weight is cut when homura has 59 loops of bleach world under her belt in the future.

Finally, I find the solutions to most of homuras loops problems to be pretty lackluster and missing the point of the pathos infecting mitakiharas 5 megucas.
