There is something about Madoka that hits the nail on the head in a way few other shows do
The plot, the lore, the mechanics, the characters, their designs, the music, the action scenes, somehow it just all comes together to create something very solid. It’s very rare to have shows that manage to be successful in all of these things. It’s up there with Haruhi I’d say

The fight between Homura and Mami is probably one of the most beautifully choreographed fight scenes in all of anime. There's something about time manipulation and projectiles that hits just right, very akin to Sakuya from touhou and her knives

There was a spinoff manga set around the new world with its ending having kyubey trap homura after learning about witches from her as seen in the final episode of the anime before rebellion, forgot the title though. But I do remember the magical girls needing quite alot of those cubes since the efficiency was not that high as grief seeds and why kyubey was very interested in her story.

I agree that the series is better than Rebellion but that doesn’t make Rebellion bad by any means, in fact, as far as unplanned sequels go, it does it the best way it could have. By pointing out how the existing definitive ending wasn’t as definitive as we thought, not by introducing new bullshit mechanics that didn’t exist back then, but by attaching it with actual arguments that anyone could have made at the time. Rebellion is an example of how unplanned sequels should be done, and I hope Kaiten follows the same formula.

I personally enjoyed the hell out of Rebellion as it expanded a ton on Homura as a character and emphasised all of her emotions pushed to their peak which was also reflected in her transformation. Its a great showcase of a redacted ending without fully butchering the original one + the visual upgrade on all set pieces and new ost made into one of the best anime movies to date

There's been a thread up almost always. Even so, there's only so much you can discuss daily about an anime that came out more than 10 years ago without exhausting all talking points. The gacha game thread is also alive and people talk there about both the original show as well as the spinoffs and original stories and the game's meta and strategies.
However I have to say that all side content i've consumed until now has been very disappointing when compared to PMMM+rebellion. I'd love to see anime adaptations of Oriko Magica and Scene 0 and i feel like, if adapted right, those could be what they wanted Magia Records to be. Scene 0 arguably spits on the original story a bit by uhm akshually there was a green meguca who kept up with homura's timeloops and she has like 390 skills and she hard carried homura sweaty..., but she's cute so that's ok.
Source: I play the Magia Exedra gacha, but didn't play the Magia Records one.
Let me just finish up by saying I don't get how people consider rebellion an unnecessary sequel and accept that the original "miracles happen and everyone was happy in the end" is an acceptable ending, even ignoring all other signs that pointed towards a sequel.
