Wasn't this just a merch promo. Animating 5 seconds isn't the same as a whole series. 90s style sucked cock anyway things were rarely fluid proportions were way off combat was full of stills etc.

The modern 90s aesthetic is distorted by DVD/BD digital remasters and screens and doesn't represent how they actually looked and everyone is chasing a dragon that never existed.

You're both entitled to your own opinions, but I prefer modern styles. Science Saru, Shaft, Bones, and Doga Kobo have shown impressive animation while carrying a unique style per show. Kyoani has showcased genuinely some of the most beautiful anime art ever made. As someome who watched VHS/ dvds of the Ultraviolence era and many 90s/ early 2000s shows growing up I don't really miss the style even if I did enjoy a lot of the shows.

I think it more deserves excuses from old good new bad fags about why they've always been so sure that looking like cel animation is some unachievable style these days with a digital workflow. I'm not one of those people so I don't care that they don't regularly lean into nostalgiabaiting like that.

Personally I wish Tomino would come back with another Gundam series that looks like G-Reco. I really like how that looked. Or anything. It doesn't have to be Gundam. I just want another anime directed by Tomino.
