Not his best work I think, out of his serials. It's a pretty serious attempt at a plot that just wasn't that interesting overall to me. Only a few opportunities for his Ito-ness to shine. Seems like it's mostly has merit for people trying to powerscale Ito works.

I still think this fits Gnosticism too well with the Akashic Records since Gnosticism is all about knowledge, the dark god being the creator of the universe like the demiurge, and a hidden, supreme God from whom the light comes from. Plus, I think Ito is more likely to be familiar with Gnosticism than Mazdaism since a good number of Japanese authors love Gnosticism for some reason.
