I was initially put off by it seemingly being a "wish fulfillment" type show where the generational beauty falls for a non-descript nobody for no reason, and was okay with overlooking that due to how naturally their relationship developed. Then you hit the part where they introduce Yamada's family and you realise that the reason she had an interest in him in hte first place is because he's basically her dad's middle school clone.
I really appreciated the grounded reasoning and lack of "we met once when we were kids" style cop-out asspull.

The lighting is way too bright.

the author of this story is also female iirc, and they put in a lot of care into the development of this relationship and the delicate nature of their age, unlike a lot of other stories of this type of romcom. most of these kinds of stories have a more mature audience target, like kaguya, bisque doll, etc. all were seinen type targets and publications. this is shounen through and through, but also shoujo-ish. while adults are consuming this, the story is clearly targeted at a similar age group as the main characters.
