Even in an ironic way the only upside is Sai being the brutally honest straight man to Naruto and Sakura’s insane parasocial fixation on Sasuke, but even that requires that they be flanderized (and Kishi clearly tried to frame Sai as being in the wrong, so this is all accidental too)

One Piece had the highest highs but has been pretty middling for the entirety of post-time-skip. I haven't even finished reading Wano because of how much of a chore that is going to be.
I read Naruto and kept up to date on it from start to finish. I'm the hardest on Naruto because it's my favorite and the one I wish was perfect, but just isn't. Kishi isn't a very good writer at all but the world and characters he created, as haphazardly handled as they are, are the coolest of the Big Three by far.

After all horoscopes mean that you were born in a specific month, and that means a person that was born in the winter could theoretically be raised differently than person that was born in the summer. That includes birthdays, when you enter school etc.
It's all very minor differences, and no person that writes the fakes horoscopes would know about them, but it makes sense to assume there is a difference

"Rule of Cool" is basically the subtitle to bleach, it's stupid to criticize it for the plot when the plot is so obviously goofy and a vehicle for the characters and visual elements to shine
One Piece isn't done yet so it can't be judged, but like many others I enjoy the worldbuilding and the characters, the unique fruit powers, the way information about events is slowly doled out over time, notice I didn't say visual style! This is up for debate, but Luffy's transformations rank from goofy looking (gear 3) to overly edgy (gear 4) to cartoonish and downright divisive (gear 5)

I consider One Piece to be more a sequence of events, revealed to the reader over time, with parts skipping back and forth across time. Oda's famous for loving his flashbacks, while Kubo only did two and made a bigger deal out of his. Oda likes making you feel one way about a certain character, then pulling the rug out from under you when you find out about their past. Now you don't know HOW to feel.

I get what you're saying, but this is Orochimaru we're talking about. Naruto's had prior experience with him and knows he's extremely bad news. He tortured them in the Forest of Death, invaded Konoha, killed the Third Hokage, nearly killed him and Tsunade, and Sasuke was manipulated to join him and so he did. From Naruto's perspective, I think it's understandable that this guy really got under his skin and could easily trigger him into a frenzy.

To me, it was always strange how Orochimaru was disposed of later on as well, because of how much build up there had been from Naruto's point of view. Time and time again Naruto was set up as being deeply committed to stopping Orochimaru, no matter the cost. Then, bam, Sasuke 'kills' Orochimaru. This was a major turning point for the series with some good effects and some major bad effects. For Naruto however, it was all simply and quickly resolved with "Wow Sasuke killed Orochimaru, that's great, he's coming back to the village now right guys?!". Simply dumb. But my main point here is that Naruto was deeply and very easily affected by Orochimaru. From this perspective, his transformations against Orochimaru and later Pain (after Hinata was killed before his eyes) were quite effective for the story that was unfolding.

Yamato in powerset is basically just a diet Hashirama but that has me wondering if the headgear part of his outfit was because Kishi looked at Tobirama and thought that was cool

This might just be me, but I don't think stuffing every panel chuck full of shit just for the sake of it makes for good manga art good. There's people with very minimalistic styles that shit all over Oda in terms of visual story telling like Ishikawa Haruto or Nihei. Oda didn't use to cram panels like he has done over the last 10 years or so, so I think his current sense of composition is more of a consequence of him hoping to finish OP within his lifetime than out of artistic preferences or evolution. It's not a matter of his style being bizarre or unique looking either, I'm a huge fan of Itagaki's art myself, which most people would agree is far weirder looking than Oda's, but the former is better at handling negative space, composition, panelling, choreography etc.

He's not good at conveying the weight and Impact of strikes. The choreography itself, at least in part 1, was actually decent. Like I've said before if you're going to compare him to masters like Toriyama, Togashi or Inoue of course his choreography skills falls short, but the more realistic standard were people like Oda, Kubo, Shimabukuro, Mano etc, and Kishimoto was at the very least equal to any of them.
