He never starts viewing himself as a girl in the novels iirc. In fact, from what I can remember, he's specifically annoyed by having to live his life as a girl and undergoing all the changes that come with that. I feel just weird thinking of Tanya as a girl with the memories of a past life when, practically speaking, it's the mind of a very logical, ruthless japanese salaryman you're seeing in the novels and I often forget that the guy looks like a little girl while reading the books.
