He has the funny "toon logic" power of being able to defeat any opponent in a single attack. By this logic, he really does one-shot Goku, Superman, and every other powerful fictional character. If you frame things in this dichotomy, Saitama will never lose a fight to anybody. However, I think there is only one possible way to defeat him. You have to make it funny!

Take Bugs Bunny for instance. Bugs Bunny never loses to Elmer Fudd, Yosemite Sam, or anybody else he feuds with. It's just not going to happen, his toon logic prevents that from happening, but Bugs has lost and been made a complete fool of by Cecil Turtle. In the "The Tortoise Versus the Hare" fable, the turtle always beats the rabbit. It's just such a funny premise that Bugs Bunny loses his toon logic immunity.

I'm not clever enough to think of a funny match up where everybody has a big smile on their face as they admit "Oh yeah, of course Saitama would lose that fight." If you can ever come up with that, you found Saitama's only "death battle"-style loss.

I think the Japanese readerbase (I heard the Chinese are alright too) are the only fans of the actual series itself left that still have their wits about them. The vast majority of "fans" in the west are people who only read the manga and have zero interest in the webcomic, so their only criticisms are when there's a long break between chapters or redraws cause the narrative to get set back for a while. The remaining fans are too easily swayed, so when a chapter like this comes out that's reasonably well drawn and somewhat follows the webcomic, they'll let it slide just because it's not as bad as it COULD be and it's pretty to look at, even though there are still massive issues in the adaptation. If you read any Japanese discussion around the new chapters you'll immediately notice the average reader there is much more analytical and clued into not just what makes the webcomic work, but manga as a whole.

I meant analyze the chapter and the rest of the story in general, but if you're talking about that image specifically, the issue is that in the original the crowd aren't just collectively turning against Amai Mask and vilifying him once he transforms, but in the manga, they're far more simpleminded and shallow. In the original, they're fearful of him, but some of them can still recognize he's putting himself on the line to protect him, while others are opportunistically attacking and slandering him because they were envious of him when he was an idol and celebrity. In the manga, the crowd all just decide they fucking hate him all of a sudden, even though he's arguably even MORE heroic in the manga (he stopped the ferris wheel from falling on the crowd). Even worse, the fangirl with the hat is outright cheering for Pesky Clown to kill him, even though not only was she a devoted Amai Mask fan until 5 minutes ago, but she seems to have forgotten the clown tried to fucking kill HER at the same time. She may have been a fan of him for superficial reasons like his appearance, but even after his transformation, she's able to feel empathy for him. It's just more realistic - the mob characters in the manga are just cartoonish and there to give you something to root against.
