Some people are pissed because there was no organic interest from overseas readers for this to be picked up. No ongoing scanlation, no Westerner ever giving it a shoutout, etc. Viz have mockingly told shoujo fans that they only pick up what people are interested in/what has social media buzz and this checks neither or those boxes. Viz is also spending hundreds of thousands of dollars on their promotion for Rooster Fighter despite a similar thing where no English speakers give a shit about it (even after all the promo, too). Kingdom, which was announced at a similar time and actually has interest and sales to back up a big push in America, hasn't gotten anything. People are rightfully pointing out that Viz has picked this hafu manga due to an internal reason not related to actual popularity by any metric (sales in Japan weren't good either and it's on indefinite hiatus). You can call it internal company DEI politics or just the American market potentially being a good option for it but when a one-volume manga that didn't even sell enough to continue serialization in Japan gets an English physical release when Cipher Academy, a Jump manga that sold at least around ~20k per volume, didn't, people will bring it up. Add in culture war bullshit and now they have a fire they can't put out and it's literally done no good to the author since people are now angry that she's been handed an "unearned" localization.

chapter 1 was pretty intersting: art is not very good and mc proportions seems to change from page to page, but overall I don't dislike this character design. Story it's interesting but i guess ''standard'' for this situation as mc is stlll considered a foreigner despite living her whole life in japan and having to put a lot of effort just to seem happy.

Most of the internet is having a field day with this manga but frankly it seems as though the trannylators handling this manga's localization are making it much more political charged than what the original mangaka intended.

Take that title for instance. For those who don't know moon, "半分姉弟" translated literally is "half siblings"(In this case, the "half" part mean mixed race). Somehow the trannies molded that into "Half is More". You can probably guess why that happened.

I've read the original JP description for the manga and it seems to be sincere with it's subject matter rather than your standard brand of obnoxious preachy westoid virtue signalling as it's being advertised as here
