When he meets back up with Zanoba and he notices Rudeus lost his hand,
Zanoba brings out a prototype model of the prosthetic hand/glove which is a result of researching the magic doll they captured at the beginning of S2.
He had developed this together with Cliff.
By putting it on and saying the chant “earth be thou my hand” it draws mana from the user and synergizes with the user. With this glove even Zanoba could control his superhuman strength. Later on they add functions like the hand flying out like a rocket kek.
And that’s how he got his first prosthetic.
Although much later on Orsted actually helps him regrow his actual hand.
But then later on his entire arm gets cut off again and he uses a flesh parasite from Atofe etc so he actually gets seriously injured a lot more in the story which is why you’re going to see him losing hands/arms rather often.
