It's not just that.
There is always something that you (and only you) can get out of watching/reading/consuming a specific piece of media.
Even if a show or manga or movie or whatever doesn't end up being your all time favorite or is one of the worst things you've ever experienced, there is always going to be SOMETHING that you can get out of it that is unique to you, whether it's a lesson to learn (such as "I'm gonna one day make my own manga, and reading, X, Y and Z, all of which are dogshit, made me internalize A, B and C hard lessons on what not to do when writing a manga") or specific moments that affect you in unique ways that don't affect anyone else in the same way due to your own past experiences, or anything else (ex: "this anime may have been shit, but I am glad to have watched it because it made me discover its composer, who has some of the best music I've heard in anime").
Never let your tastes be curated by someone else.
