i actually don't like manga that much, i vastly prefer anime. i enjoy the sound of the japanese language (i don't speak japanese so i use subs), i really like the music, i like seeing things animated.
reading manga... look, it's a comic book. there's no getting around this. before i had access to broadband, i did read manga. now though i see no particular reason, especially when the adaptation hews very close to the manga. i have a lot of things i'd like to do with my time on this earth, and reading comics is not one of them.

Kaiji's anime improves the manga experience a lot. The music, VAs and direction is just better in this case. But I agree manga being better than its anime adaptation and originals tends to be the better choice.

You read manga in your teens or maybe even as a young adult, but after a certain point it just loses its appeal.
