I haven't seen Frieren yet but I can't believe a new anime has the depth and gravitas of something like the Chimera Ant arc from HxH, yet it's only like 28 episodes long.

Frieren must be the most amazing story of all time to be rated so highly. I can't wait to have my mind blown by characters with thematic parallels rivaling Gon and Meruem.

Frieren doesn't have particularly good worldbuilding and isn't thought-provoking or deep at all. It has cute girls traveling and doing slice of life things across a beautiful and comfy fantasy landscape, punctuated by the occasional really well animated and choreographed action sequence (the entire magic exam arc is pure battle kino, but its all the way towards the end of the season). That's enough for it to be comfy kino to me at least.

This might be the greatest summary of Frieren. Dropped it halfway through the school arc because it finally sank in that it was just slice of life with a light coat of isekai paint.
