I thought Ichigo was never under the influence of Kyouka Suigetsu so the illusion wouldn't work against him.

I once read Kubo would show up and discuss with his assistants what they would do that chapter and basically there was no foresight on anything which is he constantly runs into bullshit. Aizen was total bullshit so the only meaningful counter was meta-bullshit (kubo is a bad writer)

Unohana protected Ichigo saying that he had a chance because he wasn't under its influence, only for it to not matter. God I hate weird power shit when it's done poorly, I'd rather have the two meatheads punching each other.

Iirc, Kubo straight up said that he was a bad writer who doesn't think ahead. And that thats why he relies on "X character shows up" and "power ups" so much. Its his get out of jail card when he's written himself into a corner that he can't think his way out of.

what about the fact that ichigo uses the final getsuga even thought he was completely overpowered aizen? His powers immediately revert back to normal except aizen is still alive. Brillant.

we don't know for a fact if his total hypnosis isn't his bankai's power. In fact we don't factually know shit about his shikai/bankai, aizen repeatedly lied about it.
